Mixing and Mastering

A ‘SuperMastering’ setup….for super-mastering.

So you’ve got your tracks recorded. Now what?

Or maybe you’ve already gotten your tracks mixed, and need the finishing touches put on?

Thirtyfour Audio can mix and master your files, probably for less than the big box studios. Are those a thing? God, I hope not.

Whats the difference between mixing and mastering?

Excellent question, imaginary other half of this conversation!

Mixing is more of an intricate process, whereas mastering is more of a macro level process.

Mixing is where we get the levels right for each instrument, obviously, but also add things like reverb or delay, effects, EQ, or any other tools needed to make each specific track in your song sound as good as it can.

Mastering really only deals with the main output channel, making sure that everything sounds nice and crisp together, not too loud, not too soft, not too boomy, not too tinny, not too muddy, not too thick…. you get the idea.

So I could go on and on about how I do it, or I could just give you some samples of my work.

The below songs were mixed and mastered by Thirtyfour Audio, with the exception of ‘Make It OK’, which was only mastered by Thirtyfour Audio. These were all recorded and produced elsewhere.
